Hardscapes can create an aesthetic that gives life to your landscape and provides you and your guests with a comfortable, functional and attractive outdoor living space. So what exactly is hardscape and how is it different from landscape? Hardscape is basically anything that is man made rather than plants and trees and can consist of several types of materials including:
- Decomposed Granite
Utilizing these materials can create a low maintenance and drought tolerant landscape that is as attractive as it is livable. We work hard with every client to make sure that we find the right materials and designs to meet their needs and provide them with a beautiful and useful landscape.
Decomposed Granite is fast becoming one of the most popular hardscape materials for both residential and commercial. Decomposed granite can come in a variety of colors and can be used in both planters and as the primary material in your yard. There are generally two types of Decomposed Granite used in landscaping: Stabilized and Unstabilized, each having their pro’s and con’s. While stabilized offers durability and last quite a bit longer it requires chemicals to bind the stone powder together and can offer less natural drainage. Unstabilized on the other hand requires no binding agent but is loose and easily impacted by natural elements, though it is a bit cheaper and offers better drainage it is not necessarily long lasting.
